But for kids with food allergies, it can be a bit tricky to navigate. Here are some allergy-friendly Halloween recipes that are safe, delicious, and perfect for little ghouls and goblins. 1. Ghostly Banana Pops Free from: Dairy, Nuts, Gluten Ingredients: Bananas 200g allergy-friendly white chocolate chips (dairy-free) Mini allergy-friendly chocolate chips (for eyes) Popsicle sticks Instructions: Peel the bananas and cut them in half. Insert a popsicle stick into each banana half. Melt the dairy-free white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Dip each banana half into the melted chocolate, covering it completely. Place two mini chocolate chips on each banana to create eyes. Place the bananas on a parchment-lined tray and freeze until the chocolate is set. 2. Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats Free from: Dairy, Nuts, Gluten Ingredients: 150g gluten-free Rice Krispies cereal 1 bag (approx. 300g) allergy-friendly marshmallows 45g dairy-free margarine Orange food colouring Pretzel sticks (for stems) Green fruit leather (for leaves) Instructions: In a large pot, melt the dairy-free margarine over low heat. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and stir in orange food colouring until desired colour is reached. Add the Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated. With greased hands, shape the mixture into small pumpkin shapes. Insert a pretzel stick into the top of each pumpkin to create a stem. Cut small leaves from the green fruit leather and attach them near the stem. 3. Witch’s Brew Smoothie Free from: Dairy, Nuts, Gluten Ingredients: 60g spinach leaves 1 banana 200g pineapple chunks 240ml orange juice 240ml ice Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve immediately for a spooky green treat. 4. Monster Apple Bites Free from: Dairy, Nuts, Gluten Ingredients: Green apples Sunflower seed butter (or any allergy-friendly spread) Allergy-friendly chocolate chips Strawberry slices Mini marshmallows Instructions: Slice the apples into quarters and remove the core. Cut a wedge from the skin side of each apple quarter to create a mouth. Fill the mouth with sunflower seed butter. Place a strawberry slice in the mouth to look like a tongue. Add mini marshmallows on top of the apple as eyes, using sunflower seed butter to stick chocolate chips on top as pupils. 5. Mummy Hot Dogs Free from: Dairy, Nuts, Gluten (use gluten-free dough)* Ingredients: Allergy-friendly hot dogs Gluten-free puff pastry or crescent roll dough Mustard or ketchup (for eyes) Instructions: Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Cut the dough into thin strips. Wrap the dough strips around the hot dogs, leaving gaps to create a mummy look. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown.
